February Favorites 2013

Revlon Whipped Cream Makeup

Revlon Whipped Cream Makeup

After seeing everyone and their mother raving about this foundation I finally decided to pick it up and see what all the fuss was about and I loveee it! I’m not a big foundation wearer but this product is amazing. It goes on with little effort and looks so natural. The whole process of applying it is easier than what I was previously doing by applying concealer on my problem spots and blending. With this I just quickly blend it all over my face with a Sigma F80 Kabuki brush then apply a little concealer to my under eye area and I’m done! It’s amazing, you need it.

E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit

E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit

I picked this eyebrow kit up because I was intrigued by the gel side and after trying it for a while I’ve decided I really like it! The best part is it’s only THREE DOLLARS! You can’t beat that!

Benefit Sugarbomb Blush

Benefit Sugarbomb Blush

This is my first blush from Benefit and I’m officially obsessed. Sugarbomb adds a gorgeous, natural glow to the face. I think this shade compliments everyday natural makeup perfectly. It’s definitely a must have!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Melon Mania

Maybelline Baby Lips Melon Mania

So far I’ve liked every Baby Lips I’ve tried and this limited edition shade is no exception! If you can still find it I’d recommend you grab it and QUICK!

Aladdin One Handed Water Bottle

Aladdin One Hand Water Bottle

Another impulsive purchase that paid off! Woohooooo!

Anywho, what I’m about to say might shock you but… I used to drink nothing all day. Literally nothing and that is obviously a huge problem. I bought this water bottle on a whim because I thought it would be perfect to stand up in my backpack without spilling and I love that you can drink from it without having to open an annoying lid every time. Basically I’m extremely lazy but it paid off because I love, love, love it! The bottle holds a little over 24 oz. and on the side are markings in 3 oz. increments so you know exactly how much you’re drinking. Ever since I bought this water bottle I’ve been drinking so much more throughout the day! I usually drink around 1 1/2 – 2 bottles a day now so around 36 – 48 oz. which is amazing for me! I’d HIGHLY recommend this water bottle!

Yes, I just raved about a water bottle. Don’t judge me!

Dole Banana Dippers

Dole Banana Dippers

Frozen chocolate covered bananas are a rediscovered obsession of mine. I forgot how much I love these things! They’re so darn good and these portion control packs are amazingly convenient! Although I must admit I usually eat two packs at once but hey, they’re low cal and all that jazz so I allow myself to have two without feeling too guilty!

Favorite Snack/Lunch

Favorite Snack

These garlic and herb cheese wedges are soooooo yummy! For a snack I’ll dip pretzels in it or for lunch I’ll have the it again with pretzels, a side of turkey pepperoni or turkey slices and some fruit. Delicious!

Favorite music

The a Team – Ed Sheeran
Thrift Shop – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Favorite TV Show

Army Wives

I finally caught up on last season (Netflix) and just in time! The new season started last night (March 10th) so hopefully I can keep up with it this time and not have to catch up once it’s over! Wish me luck…

That’s all for February! If you have any favorites you’d like to share leave a comment. I’d love to hear

Sims 3 University Life
If you didn’t know I am a HUGE Sims nerd. I have been playing since the original Sims was out when I was in like 5th grade. I own almost every expansion pack for both Sims and Sims 2 but for some reason my computer can’t fit as many for Sims 3 so I only own a few. I have Ambitions and Seasons which I love, love, love and definitely recommend!

Lady Foot Locker

Asics Gel Noosa Tri 8

Asics Gel-Noosa Tri 8
First off, how AMAZING are these shoes?!?!?! I am OBSESSED. I love everything from this haul but I think I’m most excited about these babies! And the best part is I scored a great deal on them because I used my birthday coupon!

I hope you enjoyed my haul! I might have went a little overboard but hey, sometimes you just have to treat yourself! Plus, it’s my birthday month so I’m allowed to spoil myself! Right? Right?

Have you hauled anything recently? What’d you buy? Leave it in a comment I’d love to know what you picked up.

P.S. February favorites will be up on Friday.

Matte Eye Shadow Palettes (Thoughts, Swatches & Photos)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, matte eye shadows are my favorite! So naturally I’m drawn to all matte palettes and have picked up a few over time. I also have quite a few individual matte eye shadows in my MAC palette, but I plan on doing a separate post for that in the next few weeks so today I’ll just be sharing my all matte palettes. I’ll be giving my thoughts, photos and swatches of all the palettes/shadows. Enough yapping Katie, let’s get started!

Matte Eye Shadow Palette

Meet Matt(e) Nude

Meet Matte Nude Palette

Meet Matte Nude Swatches

Price: $42
Can be found at theBalm.com or occasionally on HauteLook.com

Quick thoughts:

Pros: AMAZING packaging with a large mirror. Nice range of shades. The shadows are pigmented, have a creamy consistency and blend well.

Cons: The lights shades can be a bit powdery but nothing a little tapping can’t solve!

Find more here.
Find MOTD using this palette here.

Naked Basics

Naked Basics Palette

Naked Basics Palette Swatches

Price: $27
Can be found at Ulta, Ulta.com, Sephora, Sephora.com or UrbanDecay.com

Quick thoughts:

Pros: Compact packaging with a decent size mirror. Six perfect shades to create a look or to add additional matte shadows to either of the larger Naked palettes. As usual for Urban Decay these shadows have nice pigmentation, are extremely creamy and blend out with little effort.

Cons: I’m not a fan of the packaging. I say this because it can be veryyyy difficult to open. If your nails are painted, good luck not chipping them trying to open it!

***However, I was able to solve this problem with the help of my stepdad. We used the blade of a box cutter to shave down the little nub at the opening a bit and it now opens with ease! I’d highly recommend doing this if you had the same problem with your palette but be careful not to shave the nub down too, too much because then your palette won’t stay closed at all anymore.***

Eye On Neutral

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Palette

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Palette Swatches

Price: $19.99
Can be purchased at Target, Target.com or SoniaKashuk.com

Quick Thoughts:

Pros: Nice, wide range of shades. The shadows are very pigmented, creamy and blendable. The side of the palette slides out and has a flip book with three different looks you can create using these shadows.

Cons: Although I like the clear top there is no mirror included on the packaging which can be a problem for some. The lightest shade is a bit chalky but again, nothing a little tapping can’t solve.

Round Up

Meet Matt(e) Nude wins for packaging, Naked Basics wins for size but overall if I were to recommend one of these palettes it would be Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral. I may be a little biased because I love, love, love this palette. It’s been a favorite, go-to palette of mine since I purchased it last summer. Taking price, quality and the amount of shadows into consideration I think it’s the best option. You can’t beat having twelve highly pigmented, blendable shadows at a $19.99 pricetag!

Sorry this post is a few days late, it was a bit overcast on Friday so I wasn’t able to get good shots of the palettes until Sunday afternoon.

Have you tried any of these palettes? What were your thoughts? Or do you have other matte eye shadow palettes you think I should try out? Leave a comment!
